Mike Shaft is an Award winning broadcaster of some repute in the North West. He was born in Grenada in the West Indies and has lived in the North West of England since 1968. He began his broadcasting career as a freelance presenter at Piccadilly Radio, Manchester in 1978.
Mike continues to present the Multi Faith Sunday Breakfast show on BBC Radio Manchester, as it is once again called. Mike also continues to present play-by-play for the Sheffield Sharks, and Cheshire Phoenix, two of the top teams in British Basketball, and for Manchester Thunder in the top flight of British Netball, the Vitality Superleague.
Claire Lomas was working as a chiropractor and had reached the highest level in the sport of eventing when a freak accident left her paralysed from the chest down. She had gone from living life as an active sportswoman, whose dreams were coming true, to a life where happiness seemed impossible.
Claire made worldwide headlines in 2012 when, taking 17 days, she completed the London Marathon in a pioneering robotic suit. Claire also completed the Great North Run 2016 in 5 days, whilst 16 weeks pregnant. In 2018 Claire smashed her London record and completed the Manchester Marathon in 9 gruelling days.
